Police investigating the disappearance of a Clacton woman now fear she may be dead.

Officers have been growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of 48-year-old Sandra Gant, who has not been seen since November 15.

On Saturday, an 18-year-old man from Clacton was arrested on suspicion of her murder, although police have not found a body.

He was later released on police bail, pending further inquiries, to reappear at Clacton police station tomorrow.

Essex Police's major investigation team has now taken over the case, headed by senior investigating officer Det Supt Gareth Wilson.
