With top scorer Danny Hockton still on the injured list, Michael Black has been pushed into a striking role and he opened the scoring in delightful style from skipper Jamie Dormer's astute pass after only four minutes.
On-loan home goalkeeper Luke Weaver was called into action to save from the lively Mark Reed, but was helpless when the same player crossed from the right for ex-Billericay man Alvin Bubb to level at the far post in 11 minutes.
Aylesbury started the second half stronger and went ahead after 52 minutes when Town failed to cut out the danger and unmarked Reed shot home from Bubb's pass.
With little more than 60 seconds of normal time remaining, Dormer's cross from the left saw ex-Roots Hall midfielder Hunter score with a powerful header.
