Big-hearted volunteers are doing their bit to brighten up Christmas for Southend's needy.
Treats for the needy - Rotarians Phil Gaff, Ian Downie, Peter Randle and Tony Hastings collect another load of goodies from Lesley Pond, of Asda Picture: STEVE O'CONNELL
Members of the Rotary Club have joined forces with Asda, in North Road, Shoebury, to provide treats for those who otherwise would have to go without.
They have collected around 43 parcels of food and goodies from the superstore. They will distribute them over the next week.
Club spokesman Tony Hastings said: "It would make you weep if you read about some of these people. Some are elderly and living on their own. Others are single mothers."
