A date rape drug has not been found in drinks tested at a Chelmsford nightspot, it has been revealed.
In-depth tests on spiked drinks at a venue in the town found no traces of the drug Rohipnol. Essex Police carried out a study of empty glasses at a venue in the town last month. Out of 197 glasses 11 tested positive for drugs.
Tests done by officers on the night were carried out using equipment which has been compared to litmus paper and showed traces of drugs were present but not what they were.
And at the time of the study police said there was no evidence the drinks had been 'spiked' and may have been from people drugging their own drinks.
