Basildon's Phoenix Swimming Club held a sponsored swim to raise money to help buy some new equipment for the club and for a local children's charity.
The charity chosen was the Little Haven Children's Hospice and their community fund raiser TomNewtonattended a club night at Gloucester Park pool to receive the chequefrom club chairman Jon Pearse.
The money was raised by club members swimming as far as they could in 30 minutes and all of thempushed as hard as they couldto achieve their maximum distance.
Three managed to do a magnificent 66 lengths (2178 metres) of the Gloucester Park pool -- Alex Stewart, Henry Wood and James Wright.
Top money raising family wereDavid and Francesca Seber, while Alex Stewart was the leading individual fund-raiser.
