Cornelius Vermuyden School, in Dinant Avenue, has been awarded quality status in a national scheme in careers education.
The school's delighted careers co-ordinator, Patricia Hill, said: "We believe students need to start to research into potential careers at a young age, whether they plan to go straight into work or go to college.
"Careers education is scheduled into the timetable at Cornelius Vermuyden from as early as year eight."
She added: "We're really chuffed to have received this recognition. It ensures careers continues to have a high profile."
