The identity of a man's body found washed up on a Southend beach is continuing to baffle police.
The body was discovered off Western Esplanade on Tuesday morning by beach cleaners just below the Cliffs Pavilion sparking a massive operation by Thames Coastguard and Southend lifeboats.
The man is in his 60s, 5ft 6-8ins tall, with white or grey thinning hair. He was found dressed only in a beige polo T-shirt, blue and white deck shoes, blue overalls, and life jacket with blue and yellow collar.
The matter, which is not being treated a suspicious and is being handled by coroners officer PC Steve Harris on 01702 530911.
