A council-led crime-busting initiative to introduce community police support officers on to the streets of Frinton and Walton has moved a step nearer.
Earlier this year, concerned residents voted to fork out extra council tax to provide part-funding for the officers.
Further support has come from Tendring Council, which yesterday agreed to back the town council's appeal to the police authority for additional funding to pay for six officers.
The scheme will cost Frinton and Walton ratepayers more than £266,000 over three years, which will be matched by the police authority.
Tendring Council will not have to stump up any cash.
