Tributes were paid today to a teenage girl who died following a car accident.

Amy Field, 15, from Thorrington Road, Great Bentley, died yesterday afternoon in Great Ormond Street Hospital's intensive care unit.

She had been critically injured following the accident at 5.30pm on Monday.

Police said Amy was walking to a friend's house when she was involved in an accident with a white Ford Fiesta in Thorrington Road, Great Bentley.

Pastor David Bavister, of Great Bentley Methodist Church, said: "My first reaction is that the prayers and support from the Methodist folk will be for the family and whatever we can do we will obviously do for them."

Prayers will be said for Amy at a special Churches Together service at Thorrington on Sunday.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision, the girl or the car prior to the crash to contact PC Robin Rush at Stanway traffic police on 01206 762512.
