Arena Essex have been rocked by the news that Henning Bager will ride for Elite League rivals Peterborough next season.
The popular Dane was due to return to Purfleet, but because his sponsorship and lodgings were provided by Peterborough's owner he found himself in a difficult situation.
"During the season Henning stays with his sponsor in the Peterborough area and this relationship has caused the problem over him continuing to ride for the Hammers," said Promoter Ronnie Russell.
"The sponsor has recently been appointed Team Manager of the Peterborough Panthers and this has placed Henning in an impossible situation.
"If Henning were to remain with the Hammers it would have been extremely likely that he would have had to look for new lodgings and sponsorship."
