An extension to a sports pavilion has been given the green light, despite protests from residents.

Lawford Parish Council applied for the village's sports pavilion to be improved.

Tendring Council's development control committee, which received five letters of objection, has now passed the proposals.

Planning officer Richard Fletcher said there would be a new clubroom and better facilities.

He admitted there was the potential for disturbance to residents from social events, but safeguards such as sound insulation meant it could go ahead.

Residents objected to an increase in activity and said the club was sometimes open until midnight, with floodlights left on.
