Firefighters have presented a charity with smoke detectors.
The 75 life-saving devices have been given to Help the Aged for distribution to the elderly in Chelmsford and Maldon as part of its Handy Van scheme.
The detectors are fitted free of charge to anyone aged over 60 who has less that £16,000 in savings.
Assistant divisional officer Lee Neale, station commander at Chelmsford fire station, said it was a community fire safety scheme they contributed to as part of the on-going partnership with Help the Aged.
