The lights on Canvey seafront will be officially switched on today by deputy mayor of Castle Point Wendy Goodwin.
The deputy mayor will be joined by the longest serving member of Canvey 2000, Frances Robertson, at the ceremony which will be held at 4pm on the seafront.
Canvey 2000 raised £6,000 to buy thousands of lights which have been strung up along the island's Eastern Esplanade.
Canvey 2000 chairman Dennis Williams said: "It is absolutely fantastic.
"We want to say thank you to Lumisphere Products Ltd, who supplied the materials to us at a reduced price, and DEM Ltd who put the lights up for us."
