Southend United bosses and players are cock-a-hoop at the prospect of playing Premiership giants Chelsea in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Roots Hall.

But both clubs must first win their respective replays next Wednesday.

The Shrimpers travel to non-league Scarborough following Saturday's disappointing 1-1 draw.

And Claudio Ranieri's men host Watford having been held to a 2-2 stalemate at Vicarage Road.

"It's an absolutely outstanding draw for us and it would obviously be a big financial boost," said Blues co-owner Ron Martin.

"Scarborough away is what we're fully focused on at the moment, although I'm confident we can beat them and that Chelsea can see off Watford in their replay too.

"But, if we were to play Chelsea at Roots Hall, it would be a perfect day for Southend United Football Club."

And caretaker chief Steve Tilson was also delighted to see the Seasiders paired with Roman Abramovich's expensively assembled outfit.

"It's a great draw for us," he said. "They're one of the top three clubs in the country.

"They've got a whole host of world class players and it would be brilliant to take them on Roots Hall."
