A man who fought for his life after being discovered lying unconscious outside a social club has died.
Christopher Dunne, 52, of Gainsborough Avenue, Tilbury, died from serious head injuries. He had been in a critical condition in Oldchurch Hospital, Romford, since being found outside the Working Man's Institute in Calcutta Road, Tilbury, at 8.50pm on Boxing Day.
Police know that he had been drinking in the institute earlier that day but are uncertain whether his injuries were caused by a fall or whether he was attacked.
