Police officers from Tendring will be awarded with commendations from the Chief Constable of Essex in recognition of their bravery.
PC Mike Bignell, who is based at Clacton, and PC Mike Suley, based in Harwich, are to receive a Chief Constable's commendation for their actions during an incident last June.
The two were confronted by a man brandishing a gun in a wooded area off Burmanny Close, Clacton.
PC Suley was shot on the hand. The man then ran off but was chased, overpowered and arrested by the two officers.
The weapon was a blank-firing imitation firearm and the man received a caution for possession of an imitation weapon with intent to cause fear of violence.
