Five year 10 students of the Boswells School in Springfield, Chelmsford will get to sample some Asian culture after winning a trip to Pakistan by finishing second out of 129 teams in a national ICT competition.

The 15-year-old girls, Vicki Chamberlin, Megan Mortby, Hayley Speed, Laura Waskett and Nikki Wells, produced a presentation about various aspects of Pakistan using a computer programme called Power Point.

The pupils will visit Pakistan from April 1-10 and will be accompanied by the school's head of ICT, Tina Oakley-Agar. The trip will be the biggest prize that the school has ever won.

This is the first time that the school has entered the competition, called Experience Pakistan, which is in its third year and aims to give a greater understanding of Pakistan and its people.

As part of their prize the students were awarded certificates and medals and were invited to the Houses of Parliament on February 12 where they met Sir Christopher MacRae, Lord Weatherhill, trustee of the Graham Layton Trust offering free eye treatment in Pakistan, the High Commissioner of Pakistan and the competition's organiser Akhter, a computer company based in Essex.
