Southend United midfielder Neil Jenkins was full of smiles after helping the Shrimpers record a vital 2-0 victory at relegation rivals Boston United last night.

The Seasiders substitute headed home Carl Pettefer's second half cross and was joined on the score-sheet by Mark Bentley as the buoyant Blues deservedly brushed aside a poor Pilgrims outfit who had defender Stuart Balmer sent off in the 57th minute.
"It was great to score and nights like that are why you play football," said Jenkins.
"It was superb but it was just important the team won - it didn't matter who got the goals because we needed a win badly.
"We've got to get up the table and get away from the relegation zone, and it was crucial we got a result as the teams in and around us have been doing well lately.
"We played well though, we earned the win and it should probably have been a bit more convincing."
