Parents were today advised to contact their GPs after two firms working at a Colchester school admitted exposing pupils and teachers to asbestos.
Repairs at the Stanway School exposed staff and up to 600 pupils to asbestos fibres three years ago.
The fibres are not believed to be high-risk.
A staffroom, plus science and technology labs, were contaminated after windows were replaced in the school's Rutherford block.
Yesterday a major multi-national company and a sub-contractor, which carried out the work, admitted asbestos-related health and safety charges.
The firms and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are still trying to agree on the health risks to those at the school.
But after the hearing, HSE inspector John Claxton said it was one of the worst cases he had ever seen.
