Southend United gained another three precious points on the road last night as they beat Boston United 2-0.

An early goal from Mark Bentley on six minutes helped settle the Blues before Neil Jenkins made the game safe on 65 minutes.

Boston were reduced to ten men when the referee sent off Stuart Balmer for a second bookable offence on 57 minutes.

Mark Greaves managed to hit the crossbar for the home side but that was as good as it got for Boston.
