Wayne Houghton is back in a Tiptree United shirt just three weeks after signing for neighbours Maldon Town.

The defender, who was a major part of the Jam-makers' brilliant FA Vase run in 2002, will be in Tiptree's squad for their tough away trip to Wroxham tomorrow.

It is a surprise move for Houghton who, after almost a year out of the game with a broken foot, signed for Maldon last month.

He played twice for Colin Wallington's men before deciding to return 'home' to Tiptree.

However, Tiptree chief Neil Farlie is not making any promises to the no-nonsense player and said he may have to settle for a place on the substitutes' bench.

"If I put him in straight away it would be unfair on the other players who have been doing well for me there," added Farlie, whose only injury doubt is Mark Chapman (groin).

Wallington, meanwhile, is not upset with Houghton's decision and has earmarked fit-again Mark Adams to replace him against Newmarket tomorrow.

Halstead Town travel to Norwich United hoping to maintain their unbeaten league run in 2004.

Clacton Town will be hoping to match Halstead's 3-0 win over Wisbech when they host the Cambridgeshire side tomorrow - but Alan Dilloway is warning that their opponents are 'temperamental'.

Wisbech are lying mid-table but Dilloway says they can compete with the best and Clacton have already lost 2-0 to them this season.
