TEENAGE full-back Greg Halford netted his first League goal for Colchester but it could not prevent the U's from slumping to their second home defeat in twelve days
Halford cancelled out Mickey Nelson's 16th minute goal against the run of play with a brilliant header from Gavin Johnson's corner ten minutes before half-time
But Hartlepool stole the points with a 77th minute winner from 17-year-old midfielder Steve Istead who deceived home keeper Richard McKinney with a cross-cum-shot which soared into the net
The defeat left U's boss Phil Parkinson both angry and upset and he had some harsh words for referee Trevor Kettle on the final whistle
