Canvey Island put up a spirited display before losing 34-24 at home to third placed Upper Clapton.
The Islanders, rock bottom in Essex One, put up a good fight and were in front twice, but their visitors took control in the last 20 minutes of the game.
John Cutt, Brett Smith, Jamie Breading and Josh Edwards, with one conversion, one drop-goal and one penalty, were Canvey's scorers. Mid-table Biller-icay also slipped to defeat, 19-12 at East London.
