The junction of Hurst Way and Bridgwater Drive in Westcliff has been identified as an area which needs a crossing point and the council has agreed to fund a pedestrian crossing.
Blenheim ward councillor and Liberal Democrat leader Graham Longley said: "There is a great deal of concern about this area, especially as both elderly people and schoolchildren cross the road here."
Mr Longley said following concerns by the Mendip Residents Association a petition calling for a crossing had been presented to the last council meeting by the local councillors.
He added: "Following this, we were delighted that KeyMed have agreed to fund £12,000 to change the crossing."
