Angry residents are demanding workmen finish off bathroom and kitchen work in their council homes.

Tenants have claimed contractors for Colchester Borough Homes have been working on their homes for weeks, but have not finished before moving on to other properties.

Just some of the many complaints include kitchen units being ripped out and not replaced, live electric wires left exposed and cupboards hung upside down.

But Phil Adams, head of Colchester Borough Homes, said he was surprised to hear people were not satisfied as his officers were not aware of any problems.

He said recent tenant satisfaction surveys had shown out of 65 responses, 89 per cent of people had rated work as satisfactory or very satisfactory.

Just one person had said the service was poor and six said it could be better, he added.
