An access road to be used for major events at Hylands Park in Chelmsford has been given the go-ahead.
The road will be on the London Road part of the A414 where there are currently two disused access roads.
Chelmsford Borough Council gave the green light for the road at a meeting yesterday, but it is only to be used for large events, such as the V Festival and Chelmsford Spectacular.
As part of the negotiation process with promoters of such events at the site, the need to relocate and increase camping provision was established together with associated parking arrangements.
But to allow this to happen, it was felt alternative access for vehicles was needed.
However, problems with cars turning from London Road into the estate were envisaged.
Ian Wright, planning committee chairman, said: "It has to be safe for cars to flow down London Road and be able to turn into the estate. There are always problems on that road when cones have to be put out."
