BAA has scooped a top business award for social responsibility.
Stansted airport's operator has been rated top of the transport sector in the annual Responsibility Index, produced by Business in the Community (BITC).
The Responsibility Index measures how well companies integrate responsible practice into their corporate strategy and everyday performance.
BITC is an organisation of 700 member companies which seeks to encourage business to improve its impact on society.
Welcoming the results, Mike Clasper, BAA's chief executive, said: "Aviation is one of the country's most successful industries, contributing over £10bn every year to the UK economy.
"BAA is at the heart of this industry, which places a unique responsibility on us to lead the sector in tackling our environmental impacts.
"We recognise that BAA must promote best practice to ensure the industry makes the most of its positive impacts, and drives down the negative impacts for local communities and the wider environment."
