Developers planning a block of retirement flats in the centre of Billericay today hit back at critics.
Residents and councillors have attacked Hallmark Developments' plans to build 25 flats in Stock Road, claiming they will cause disruption and dominate the local skyline.
The company has permission to build 11 flats on a neighbouring site which was granted on appeal after originally being rejected by councillors.
Hallmark's managing director Steve Everington claimed the two and three-bedroomed retirement flats were "much-needed".
