Trials for the Great Britain Olympic Squad will today get underway at Sheffield's Ponds Forge pool.

The five day event, which doubles up as the British Longcourse Championships, will determine the identity of the GB squad for this summer's games in Athens - with Southend based swimmer Nathalie Brown hoping to make the cut after competing at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

Brown also represented Britain during last year's European Shortcourse Championships and is expected to figure in this Saturday's 800m freestyle final.

In order to make the team however Brown, a former FitzWimarc school pupil, must finish inside the top two in a time faster than the 12th fastest ranked time for that event.
