Leigh based sailor Richard Beechey and his team-mate Jon Wells have linked up with a top Olympic coach to help boost their bid for European Championship glory.
The Essex Yacht club duo are currently working alongside Jim Saltenstall who helped make Great Britain the world's most successful sailing nation at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
"He's been good for us," said 39-year-old Beechey.
"Jim played a part in Britain winning three gold and two silver medals in Sydney and we've been seeing him for about eight weeks now in Southampton.
"We get coaching off him probably two or three times a month and it's been going well to be honest."
And, having received regular advice from the highly regarded coach, Beechey is now relishing the remaining months of his eventful season.
"There are five or six races throughout the year that we take part in - all in the South East area," said Beechey, who competes in the Iso Class Dingy category.
"Then towards the end of May there's the National Championships in Cornwall that we will be taking part in."
