Tendring's golden sands are the tops
Tourist bosses are celebrating all five of the district's main beaches scooping prestigious yellow flags under the nationwide Seaside Award scheme
Clacton was judged best in East Anglia and equal seventh best resort beach in the UK, while Frinton and Walton were included for the first time.
It gave Tendring more than half the sites chosen across Essex.
The locations were selected based on their facilities, clean sands and water.
Terry Allen, executive leader of Tendring Council, said it was the best news at the outset of the Easter break.
"The tourist trade in Tendring is big business and this is just the perfect tonic for us," he said.
There were nine winners in Essex, including Clacton, Frinton, Walton, Brightlingsea and Dovercourt, which also has the European Blue Flag.
