A South Woodham teenager has hit out at the cruel vandals who smashed windows and terrified elderly residents at his grandmother's retirement home.
Kieron Humphries, 17, said the vandals struck in the early hours of Friday morning. "My nan feels very upset and insecure in her environment. It seems that the elderly are being targeted by the teenagers of South Woodham Ferrers," he said.
"Rohan Court is a place for my nan to be secure and happy in her surroundings. This vandalism destroys all the freedom that the residents have."
Nine windows in a kitchen and corridor area were destroyed at the home near Gandalfs Ride.
Dennis Laws, chairman of Chelmer Housing Partnership, which manages Rohan Court, also condemned the attack.
"It's just a completely despicable thing to do to elderly people. Most residents there are in their late seventies and early eighties, why do it?" he said.
