Juliet Day found her Romeo all she had to do was get him to say: "Yes".
But rather than propose on some secluded balcony in fair Verona, she chose to pop the question on television.
Juliet, 36, was offered a starring role in Channel 4's four-day series on weddings, after she came second in a £25,000 national newspaper competition.
Her unwitting co-star on location was her partner, Mark Smith.
The pair were dining at a Norfolk country house hotel, when, witnessed by unseen microphones and cameras, Juliet asked Mark, 34, to marry her.
The couple, who have a two-year-old daughter Phoebe, live at The Blundens, Stoke by Nayland, with Juliet's children Hannah and Luke Peasland.
Production company ZKK also shot footage of Juliet choosing the ring, with a little help from Hannah and Luke, at the Colchester and East Essex Co-up jewellers in Eld Lane, Colchester.
To find out how Mark responsed to Juliet's proposal, watch Pop The Question on Channel 4 on Wednesday, April 21, at 7.55 pm
