Proposals for an underground bus park in Colchester are being touted with bus operators.
Moving the bus park from off Queen Street to Osborne Street is a key feature of the controversial plans to overhaul the St Botolph's area of town.
It has been reveal that plans for an underground bus park, beneath the current Gala bingo hall, is one of the options currently in the melting pot.
Bosses have already kicked out one underground option because of safety fears. That proposal was for an underground bus park in which buses had to reverse backwards out on to the road before setting off.
But the general idea of a bus park beneath the ground is still being considered.
Stephen Smith, director and general manager of First Essex, said: "There are currently a number of options being discussed and this is just one of those."
