Southend-on-Sea Bowls Club has become a mixed club and is now looking for new members.
Both women and men are being invited to attend an open day next weekend to give them a taste of the sport.
The event is being held at the club's headquarters at 7 Tunbridge Road, Southend, near the Civic Centre.
Would-be bowlers can give the game a go between 2pm and 5.30pm when coaching will be given to newcomers.
A spokesman for the club said there was no charge and no obligation for those attending. They just need to bring soft-soled shoes as woods will be provided.
