A motorcyclist died after suffering chest injuries when he crashed into a car, an inquest heard.

Colin Taylor, 32, of Hickory Avenue, Colchester, was riding along the A120 Coggeshall Road at Marks Tey when it happened.

Just before the crash, witness Michael Chadwick was in his Land Rover Discovery heading in the same direction as Mr Taylor.

He told the inquest he saw a Vauxhall Corsa car in front of him indicate, then start to turn right off the road.

He said as it was turning, Mr Taylor's motorbike overtook him at speed, then hit the car on the driver's side.

Natasha Brown, who was driving the Vauxhall, also gave evidence.

She said that before turning, she looked in her mirror twice but did not see Mr Taylor, adding that if she had, she would not have turned.

PC Kevin Crosby, of Essex Police's traffic investigation unit, said: "There was nothing Miss Brown could have done to avoid the accident."

The inquest also heard that blood tests showed Mr Taylor had had some alcohol and cocaine but was below the legal drink-drive limit.

Essex coroner Caroline Beasley-Murray recorded a verdict of accidental death.
