A couple armed with a baseball bat and knives robbed an Indian takeaway.
The man and woman burst into the Sonali Tandoori, in Hoover Drive, Laindon, and stole £150 from the till.
Detectives believe the robbers returned to the tandoori after causing problems there earlier.
Det Con Petter Kittle, said: "The staff were terrified and ran into the kitchen."
The man, carrying a 10 inch knife and a baseball bat, was black, aged 19 to 22 and 6ft tall. He wore a dark hooded top.
The woman, armed with a small kitchen knife, was of mixed race, 5ft 4ins and wore a blue hooded top.
