John Ludlow made the most of his first ever visit to Basildon's Northlands Park road lake netting over 60lbs of tench and skimmer bream in less than five hours fishing.

He fished the Eastern bank of the lake where he included 15 good tench and more than some 25lbs of skimmer bream in his haul.

Using pole tactics and pellet baits John took fish from the start of his session and was still catching when he packed up in the early afternoon.

Surprisingly John didn't have any of the lakes big bream in his haul, although he did lose a quality carp at the net.
