A builder has swapped his prized ponytail for a shaved head to raise £1,200 for the mental illness charity Rethink.

David Hoare, 33, of Wickford, decided to sacrifice his locks in aid of the national charity and was supported in his fundraising by many friends and family.
The ponytail was removed on Monday night at the Railway Club at Wickford Station, where David's friend John Molyneux was a willing barber.
