Sports coaching in Essex is all set for a major boost thanks to the appointment of coach development officer Carrie Bywater.
The 25-year-old was formally a community sports development officer for Chelmsford Council but took up her new post this month.
Bywater is one of 30 coach development officers across the country who have swung into action as a result of £4m funding from the Government to Sports Coach UK.
Their mission is to increase recognition of coaching as a profession and to tackle the shortage of paid and voluntary coaches in England.
She said: "I am looking forward to working in partnership with key agencies to give coaches the opportunity to develop and achieve their goals and become the best they can be."
