Young athletes from north Essex will be hoping to emulate their Olympic heroes when they compete in trials to represent Colchester and Tendring in the Essex Youth Games.
The trials, on Saturday, April 24, will give young people the chance to gain coaching tips from qualified coaches and take part in running and throwing events.
Twenty athletes will be selected to represent Colchester and Tendring at this year's Essex Youth Games, which is sponsored by BAA Stansted.
Martin Beaver, Colchester Council's sports development officer, said: "This event represents another good example of what can be achieved when local clubs, schools and local authorities work together for the good of athletics.
"It promises to be a fun event that will enable young people to try something new, make new friends and get active at the same time."
