An airline has illustrated its zero tolerance approach to antisocial behaviour on its flights by announcing it has slapped bans on eight passengers.

Ryanair, based at Stansted Airport, revealed it has barred the eight passengers from flying with the low-cost airline for endangering passenger and crew safety.

Five passengers have been banned for life for smoking on board an aircraft. A further three have been banned for a year for disruptive behaviour and criminal damage.

These incidents occurred on eight separate flights over the last four months.
