A boy was seriously hurt in a road accident which left three others needing hospital treatment.
The eight-year-old suffered head and facial injuries, including a broken jaw, in the crash on the A120.
It happened between Ramsey and Wrabness at the junction with Primrose Lane.
A Mercedes car and a silver Peugeot 106 car were involved in the smash, at about 6.15pm on Friday.
The Peugeot driver - a 31-year-old Brightlingsea woman - and her five-year-old son both suffered minor injuries.
Her eight-year-old boy was seriously hurt but his condition was not thought to be life-threatening.
The only occupant of the Mercedes a 46-year-old woman from Wrabness suffered minor injuries.
