Nine charities will be holding displays in the High Chelmer Shopping Centre in Chelmsford to celebrate National Volunteers Week, which runs from June 1 to 7.

Among them will be Chelmsford Agency for Volunteering (CAV) who help recruit volunteers for all charities in Chelmsford.

"Volunteering is not just about giving your time to help others, it's a two way thing." said Alison Semmence, Director of CAV.

"The personal rewards are vast you will learn new skills, meet people, gain work experience, feel you are doing something worthwhile and have fun.

"The type of volunteering opportunities vary enormously and include befriending older people or people with disabilities, supporting children or adults who have to give evidence in court, conservation, driving, being a trustee of a charity, administration, advice work, sports coaching."

The organisations taking part in the display in Chelmsford are Hopefield Sanctuary, Netscuda Credit Union, Charms, Uniceff, Chess Night Shelter, Magistrates Witness Support Service, Interact, Essex National Trust and CAV.

The exhibition, being held in the Oxfam Bookshop in Chelmsford High Street, in conjunction with Chelmsford Agency for Volunteering, opens on June 1 and will run until June 19.
