Andy Marshall admitted having mixed emotions after his heroic performance in Millwall's FA Cup final defeat against Manchester United.
The former Ipswich Town goalkeeper, who lives on the outskirts of Colchester, was the Lions' man-of-the-match in their 3-0 defeat at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.
And, reflecting on his string of brilliant saves, Marshall told the Evening Gazette: "On a personal note, it was a very successful afternoon. I was pleased with my own performance.
"But I came away with mixed emotions.
"It was obviously so disappointing to lose, although they were the far superior side. It was very one-sided.
"We were missing some key players and had kids on the bench. They are a team of international stars.
"Roy Keane, the United captain, probably earns more in a week than the whole Millwall squad.
"Had we been at full strength, or kept a clean sheet until half-time, we might have given them more of a game. We'll never know."
