Rayleigh Tory MP Mark Francois is calling for more details on new Government plans to compensate 60,000 pensioners who have lost their savings from occupational pension schemes in companies that have gone bust.

His demand, in the House of Commons, was made following an announcement by pensions minister Malcolm Wicks.

He said the Government had decided to provide retrospective compensation for those affected now by the situation, rather than those who could be affected in the future as well.

Mr Francois said: "The issue affects several of my constituents, so I welcome in principle the Government's decision to do something about it.

"As with anything to do with pensions, the devil is in the detail."
