A spate of thefts from cars has prompted a warning from police.
There has been a rise in car break-ins happening overnight in Frinton and Walton and in-car entertainment stolen.
Police have urged car owners to be on their guard and, if possible, put their vehicles in a garage.
A spokeswoman for Walton police said: "We want to advise people to remove all valuables they can from their vehicles or try their best to keep them out of sight."
A Renault Clio was damaged in Harold Road, Frinton, as would-be thieves tried to break in.
A Ford Escort in Woodberry Way, Walton, was left with £200 of damage after a driver's door was forced and a stereo system and speakers, worth £400, was stolen.
Witnesses should call police on 01255 851212.
