Aftab Habib is no doubt relishing the opportunity of taking on the Somerset bowlers when Essex meet up with them for today's Championship clash.

Not only does he make the trip in fine form after knocks of 157 and 97 in the last couple of games against Glamorgan and Leicestershire, but he journeys in the knowledge that Taunton is one of his favourite grounds.

"I seem to do well there," he said while recalling that he scored centuries there in 1999 and 2001, in between which he also put together a useful innings of 72. "So I'm naturally hoping it will again prove a happy hunting ground.

The important thing is that I am making the trip satisfied with my form and full of confidence."

That can also be said of Alastair Cook, Will Jefferson and James Foster, each of whom scored centuries. Indeed, Foster made 212 in the match against Leicestershire.

It remains to be seem if Nasser Hussain will be available after doing battle for England in the opening Test against New Zealand, but certain to return is allrounder Graham Napier.
