Straight in the bin. That's where Essex Trading Standards say chain letters should go after a series of them have been sent throughout Maldon.
The promise of making £40,000 through a cash mailing pyramid scheme has recently been hitting doormats in the area.
But a Trading Standards spokeswoman said: "The advice to all chain letter receivers is to simply throw the letter in the bin or rip it up. The chances are very good you will not get your money back."
It is not known how many are being distributed in the district and Trading Standards say it has had no complaints from the area.
