Blood donors are being sought to help keep stocks at a high level as the summer approaches.
Sessions will be taking place at The Institute, Bocking End, Braintree, on Wednesday, June 2.
The National Blood Service (NBS), which organises the sessions, is urging people to come forward, as the summer months usually see a dip in stocks as many people go away on holiday or are out enjoying the sunshine.
Ruth Greenaway, of the NBS East Anglia, said: "Hospitals across England and North Wales require 9,000 units blood on a daily basis.
"Currently, only six percent of the eligible population give blood, so we would like more people who can start stepping forward and saving lives, as well as asking regular donors to continue to attend a blood donor session every 16 weeks."
To find out more about becoming a blood donor, contact the NBS helpline number on 0845 7711711, or log on to www.blood.co.uk
